Airport Information, Car Rental & Shuttle
Tulsa International Airport is 15 minutes from the host hotel. American Airlines, Northwest, United, Delta, and Southwest along with a few others provide service to Tulsa. All major car rental companies are on site at the airport. 

Yellow Cab (1530 E 1st St., Tulsa, OK. (918) 582-6161) provides direct service to the hotel at special rates and has vans available for exhibitors with dogs and equipment. 

Driving Directions to the Hotel
Directions from Airport to Host Hotel:  Start out going West on Airport Drive towards N 76th East Avenue.  Turn Left onto N 76th East Ave.; Turn Right; Turn Slight Left onto Airport Drive; Turn Right onto East Virgin Street; Turn Slight Left onto ramp;  Merge onto OK-11 East;  Take the exit;  Merge onto US-244 East (left);  Take the US 169 South exit - exit number 13B;  Merge onto US-169 South;  Take the East 61st Street South exit;  Keep left at the fork in the ramp; Turn Left onto East 61st Street South;  Turn Right on S 107th East Avenue;  Hotel will be about 6/10th of a mile on the right. 

More Directions From Various Highways:

From Northeast on I-44; exit 234A, go South to US-169 towards Broken Arrow; take E 61st Street Exit; turn left on 61st Street; turn right onto S 107th E. Avenue.

From Southeast on Muskogee Turnpike/OK-51:
Travel Northwest on Muskogee Turnpike which turns into OK-51W;  Merge US-169 towards Bixby; Take E 61st Street Exit; Turn Left on to 61st Street; Turn right onto S 107th E. Avenue

From North on HWY 75:
Travel South on Hwy 75;  Merge onto OK-11 E;  Take I-244 E/ US-412 E;  Merge onto US-169 South via Exit 13B;  Take E 61st Street Exit;  Turn left onto 61st Street;  Turn right onto S 107th E. Avenue

From South on HWY 75 N:
Travel North on Hwy 75;  take the Creek Turnpike East ramp (tolls);  Take US-64/US-169 North toward Tulsa;  Take the 71st Street exit;  Keep right at the fork to go to E 71st Street S;  Turn left onto S 109th East Avenue;  Turn left onto E 69th Street which becomes E 67th Street;  Hotel should be in sight.

Room Sharing Coordinator
If you are planning on coming to the show and would like to have someone share room expenses with you please email our Share A Room chairperson Christie Parrent . Please indicate whether you are a smoker or non-smoker, male or female and how many dogs you will have in your room. Christie will try and match you up with someone compatible.

Futurity
The purposes of the Futurity are to encourage the breeding of the best possible Schipperkes and to reward the breeders for their efforts. For these reasons, the Futurity Stake prizes are divided between the breeder and the owner, with recognition also given to the contribution of the sire. Top 20 Invitational Competition (deadlines March 1, 2008)

This event will feature the Top 20 ranked Schipperkes in the country. Please plan to attend this spectacular evening as it will be an amazing opportunity to see Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show and Best of Breed winning Schipperke dogs and bitches showcased individually and as a group.

The competition is by invitation only to the Top 20 dogs and Top 20 bitches ranked by breed or all‐breed points accumulated from January 01, 2007 through December 31, 2007 as determined by statistics maintained by the American Kennel Club. Invitations, guidelines, and instructions will be sent as soon as the rankings are received from AKC.

Dogs will be evaluated by three different judges chosen from any of the following categories:
(a) AKC licensed judge (not necessarily licensed for Schipperkes);
(b) Schipperke Breeder‐Judge;
(c) Schipperke Breeder with 10+ years experience;
(d) Schipperke Handler with 5+ years experience.

The Judging panel will be announced at the start of the competition.

Judges will evaluate each dog and bitch assigning points to attributes based on the AKC Standard. These points will be combined to determine the Judge’s Choice Award. Spectators will also have an opportunity to participate by casting their vote for the People’s Choice Award.

Judge’s Choice Trophy– Custom Portrait by Steve Kress and an Etched Magnum Champagne Bottle. People’s Choice Trophy – Custom Portrait by Maren Phillips and an Etched Magnum Champagne Bottle. All exhibitors will also receive a customized ribbon with their Schipperkes name on it.

7:30 PM – Cocktails    8:00 PM – Top 20 Invitational

All spectators and exhibitors are automatically entered in the drawing for the door prize and everyone will have the opportunity to participate in the silent auction.

New this year we are asking the regional clubs to donate items for the silent auction and the SCA will split the proceeds of each item with the club that donates it. (Please contact Lisa Haines for more information.)

So dress your BEST and join us for an unforgettable evening showcasing the Top Schipperkes in the United States. We would like this to be a Black Tie event but Business or Business Casual is acceptable.

Skip-A-Thon –This event is designed to bring together and unite all who adore our wonderful breed. All Schipperkes are created equal, and all who love them can enter their favorite little Black Devil Dog in the Skip-A-Thon. Whether your Schipperke is your devoted house pet, a worthy little Rescue alumnus, a Champion or a great Wanna-Be in Obedience, Rally, or Conformation … the Skip-A-Thon is the place to be on Wednesday evening to show off the wonderful relationship between you and your Best Friend. The Skip-A-Thon offers Schip/human teams two distinct classes in which to entertain the audience and to compete for prizes: Best Team Costume and Best Team Performance. Gifts of Love: SCA is also presenting silent auction. We do need “GIFTS OF LOVE” for the auction. Doggie and none doggie collectibles are welcome. The item you do not want may be our treasure. Most Enchanting Schip Contest: The Most Enchanting Schip Contest features photos of Schipperkes doing …. well, what Schipperkes do best …. looking cute, getting into trouble, pattycaking, leaping over tall barriers or digging in your flower garden, or catching a catnap in a bed of sunshine …. Send your most endearing photos to Fran Keyes or bring them with you to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Everyone who submits a photo will be automatically entered in drawing for cash and doggy prizes.

Judges Education
"The Schipperke" by Shirley Smith sponsored by the Judges Education Committee.
Shirley Smith is the Judges Ed. Chair. Judges or prospective Judges should contact Shirley Smith at logaven1@windstream.net or call 716-569-6802 by March 5, 2008 for a reservation.

Historical Exhibit
On Thursday morning at 10:30 AM we will be having a Historian Exhibit. Paula Steen, SCA Historian,  is bringing a number of interesting historical items she has found in the archives. No food or beverage will be allowed in the area. Volunteers to help with this event will be welcome.

Parking
There is ample car parking at the Hotel.

RV Parking
There is no parking fee for the week but you must park in specific areas.

AKC DNA Clinic
Swab kits will be provided at a reduced cost from AKC.

Health Clinics
The SCA Rescue and Health Foundation will hold a Health Clinic on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. There will be 2 tests plus microchipping offered:

CERF TESTING - by Dr. Art Quinn, Veterinary Ophthalmologist. Only $25.00 per dog – 20 dog pre-registered MINIMUM.
PATELLA-OFA EXAM - Dr. Dennis Henson or Associate. 10 dog MINIMUM at $10 per dog - if minimum reached can do extra signups day of exam
MICROCHIPPING - Technician from VCA Woodland Center Animal Hospital, Tulsa, OK. Price includes first year registration with HomeAgain. 10 dog MINIMUM, $20 per dog (or less depending on number of dogs) - if minimum reached can do extra signups day of exam.

These prices are very reasonable. The pre-registration deadline is January 15, 2008. If minimums are not reached on that date, clinics will not be held and money returned. There will be no refunds for cancellations after the deadline.

Parades
PARADE OF TITLEHOLDERS
(Non-competitive) to be held (insert date and time)
Entry fee is $15.00. Any Schipperke with an AKC recognized title may be entered. The entry blank must indicate – “Parade of Titleholders”. Each entrant will receive a Special Rosette with dog’s name and title imprinted. A description of the dog’s achievements will be read while the dog is presented. A brief owner-provided biography (100 words or less) on a separate sheet of paper must be sent to Superintendent with the entry.
PARADE OF CASTAWAYS
(Non-competitive) to be held (insert date and time)
Entry fee is $15.00. Any Schipperke that was rescued from any rescue organization or shelter may be entered. The entry blank must indicate – “Parade of Castaways”. Each entrant will receive a Special Rosette with the dog’s name imprinted. A description of the dog and its known rescue background will be read while the dog is presented. A brief owner-provided biography (100 words or less) on a separate sheet of paper must be sent to Superintendent with the entry.

Pet Deposit
The Pet Deposit required for guests staying in the Hotel is detailed on the

Bathing & Grooming
There will be a bathing area (indoors) at the show site and grooming area.

Auction
The auction is one of the biggest money makers for SCA. Finding quality items that sell well is a challenge, so start now looking for those special items. Contact Julayne Puckett for more information.

State Baskets
There will be State Baskets raffled off on Saturday night. Please contact Linda Web to donate your basket.

Catalog ads are important to the success of any National Specialty. The catalog is not only a great souvenir of each Specialty, but it’s also a great source of reference material for the future.
